Gastroparesis, also called delayed gastric emptying, is a disorder in which the stomach takes too long to empty its contents. Normally, the stomach contracts to move food down into the small intestine for digestion. The vagus nerve controls the movement of food from the stomach through the digestive tract. Gastroparesis occurs when the vagus nerve is damaged and the muscles of the stomach and intestines do not work normally. Food then moves slowly or stops moving through the digestive tract.

Joanne demonstrates and describes the function of trypsin’s role in digestion. She also demonstrates that trypsin at physiological temperature works better than cold trypsin.

I really know how you feel with having Gatroparesis. I have it also. In and out the hospital and emergency rooms gets so frustrating, just to find that nothing is working.
@Krumlaufvids I am praying with you for your miraculous miracle! Please stay faithful! <3
I am so thankful for your inspiration. I go for my emptying study tomorrow. I’m believing for a miracle!
@jehovahrapah36 LOL ! I JUST LEARN HOW TO RELY BACK! I HAD SURGERY IN OCTOBER. AS OF THIS MORNING THE TUBE IS DISLODGED. THE INTERNAL SUTURES ARE WORKING THEMSELVES OUT OF MY STOMA! SO THAT MEANS ANOTHER SURGERY TO REPAIR THIS TUBE!
THANKS MELISSA I HOPE ITS NOTHING BUT ALL SMILES ON YOU END! (((((((hugs))))! <3
@Fowlersyndrome Thanks <3 WE ARE GOING TO MAKE IT!
@mmcgriffful That will be a great idea..It took me years to find a name to this sickness! I be praying for you! Be encouraged hun!
@beautybymk22 thanks so much! Stay focused and remain faithful!
@5001Isaac Thanks so, much! God bless you !
Keep your faith! Revelation 21:1-4
May God continue to give you all the strength to get through this (including others who commented that have this or something similar). This is just a testament you just don’t know what a person is going through. In deed you all are beautiful, God will fix it. It just all in God’s timing. I know it has to be hard, but continue to push on; and when feeling down or bad tell the devil he’s a liar. My God can do all things! You all will be in my thoughts & prayers. Be blessed withing the Lord.
Girl I can so relate, I’m 26 and am being fed and hydrated through a Hickman catheter which will be switched out for a feeding tube in 3 months. How are you doing now? anything new? How r u feeling? I loved ur scriptures and music, God bless and heal you, Melisa
I am so afraid I have this disorder. After many years of bulimia I finally went on a low carb diet and lost 50 pounds in 6 months and then the pain started in Feb of this year and had gotten worse daily. i can’t eat but lose no weight as I stay bloated but eating is just about over. I’ve had it. I’m done eating. I just had a CT Scan and Monday i will talk about it. I will bring up this disorder and see what he says. My fears are that this is my fate. Your video brought tears to my eyes.
I can totally relate to you situation. I too have Gastroparesis, you truly are an inspiration to us all. God bless you, stay strong.
@lakeeriemom You are quite welcome ! Thank you for watching be blessed!
Thank you for sharing, for your advocacy and your bravery.
@TheMordyS I’m glad it was useful!
We have our first lab this week and we’ll be working with Trypsin…I found this video very helpful!
Typsin is a digestive enzyme that breaks down protein. Your pancreas releases these digestive enzymes. If you eat too much protein or eat too much processed foods, foreign to your digestive system, the pancreas has to work its butt off! CANCER has a protein barrier protecting itself. Hence, if you do not eat enough digestive enzymes, your pancreas isn’t going to be able to destroy the cancer, white cells cant fight! Cancer is preventable & can be cured! Booya FDA! FU very much!
Joanne, love your gummi bears videos. I never knew gummi bears could be so interesting and tasty at the same time.
the rate of catalysis also increases with increasing pH levels, even above the physiologic range.
wow i am actually learning about the mechanism of activated trypsin and chymotrypsin in my biochem class
you give a very clear and concise explanation, although really just skim the surface of the actual chemistry involved.
for example, its true these enzymes function at physiological conditions, but actually rate of reaction Kcat increases with temperature until the enzyme is denatured
the buffer is very important due to its function as a H ion transporter at the active site (catalytic triad)
Haha I love your sense of humor.
And yet another great video! I never really had much interest in chemistry of any kind, but your approach to teaching the fascinating aspect of biochemistry really inspires me to learn more.
wow, i wish i’d watch this video while I was studying for the mcat… grrr trypsin, chymotrypsin and all the endopeptidases.
is it true that soy inhibits trypsin? i find it funny that soy is in some protein supplements!
you should also try electrocuting one that would be funny or even stick it in a room and suck out the air and see what happens to it.
i just like destroying gummy bears lol
That would be fun, holding a gummy bear over a flame to show what happens. Maybe outside so I don’t set off a fire alarm!
could you make a vid involving gummy bears being exposed to different elements like fire or water or anythingelse
Gummi Bears and Science! Brilliant =) Hope to see more. Thanks for the video, learned a lot.
OMG! She is so sexy! And SMART!!!
How many more Gummi Bears will suffer before this woman is stopped!
Seriously, nice video again. Keep them coming.
Biochemistry is most impressive. Awesome command of the subject, Joanne. Thank you for sharing.
That’s right!
And then there are the enzymes which are only produced by beneficial gut bacteria.
